What is this? All i know is starcraft...

Hi everyone, I'm new here and just bought this bare hull as a project. I'd like to know more about it. All I can tell you about it is that it's a starcraft, it's roughly 16' long, it had a side console at one time, and the spec plate inside is completely unreadable, going to turn it into a little fishing boat for small lakes and rivers around here as the other boat I've got is a beast (22' sea swirl)and just hangs out in the marina all summer. I'd like to get some more info so I can find out what size motor I can put on it (can get a great deal on a 50 merc), capacity etc. I've constantly searched for pictures for days and can't find any other ones like it. I did a hin decode and it says it's an 81, but it looks like it should be newer than that? No idea at all lol. I'm super lost and need some help please!

Nobody else has jumped in so... based on the few catalogs I see in the sticky's, I'd guess your '81 is pretty close. In looking at the '77, 79 and 80, the glass boats show hints of yours and the side decorations are also showing hints, by 86 the side decoration is past. You might try to find a '81 catalog someplace (not sure where) to see if there is a match.

Here is a pic of an '82, the side decoration is similar to yours.

That totally looks like it! I couldn't find a picture or anything of it! Thanks! I see that in that pic it's got a 70 on it so the 1982 50 mercury shouldn't be a problem? It was getting frustrating because without a spec plate I was worried what size motor could go on it. My brother offered me his Honda 15. But not enough motor. I'm going to put a tiller on it to maximize deck space.
Edit; Googled it and that's for sure it! Even found a pic with a merc 50 on it! Perfect!

Excellent - and that side marking makes this one a '81 also, with a '83 banded Merc. It just showed up on fb in our neighborhood FS.

Thanks again for all the help everyone. I just picked it up this week for $200, time to tear into it and get the build started. Open water season is coming here! I'll have to update the progress!

The floor is gone in it, so ill be replacing the stringers, and building a casting deck in the bow. Turning it into a mini bass boat. Picking up a 50 merc tiller for it today. Want to run a tiller to have more room in the boat. And already have a foot piloted minn Kota for the bow.
