Since this seems to be a active thread that keeps growing. I wanted to add. I've been boating my whole life but now finally have a boat of my own at the age of 27. I'm looking for a newer tow vehicle. You can call me crazy for right now but I'm using my 07 chrysler sebring 2.7 v6 to haul my 2002 18'5 sea doo utopia jet boat around sw Florida. My ramp is 15 minutes from the yard. I tow it an hour at the most but that's not every weekend. Any ideas for a newer suv? With the way gas prices are I'm looking at cross overs like a saturn vue, nissan murano or a v6 explorer. The boat itself ways 2000lbs dry wieght(obviously adding gas and gear). My ramps here in sw Florida aren't that steep and so far I've been lucky with high and low tides along with slippery ramps. I want a cross over or a suv so I can use the boat more in different locations and take it on road trips. Input would be nice. Thanks for the help.


P.S. I keep my car because it's paid for I don't want to bite the bullet on any more payments but I want to trade it in before I ruin my car. Also picture of boat and vehicle below. Thanks every one!

i will be pulling my 16.5 deep v hull with a 115 rude on the back , with my 2001 GMC sierra c3 6.0L AWD . i can tow 8700lbs all stock

I wouldn't want to tow it cross country, but it does very well.

Last fall, my old red '95 F150 developed a rod knock and I knew it's days were numbered. I was planning on rebuilding it until I saw this F250 on Craigslist. Even though it is in perfect shape for it's year, I bought it because it matched my boat. Who does that??:)

Ain't much but it pulls my lil boat around no problem. Been a great little truck. 180K & goin strong.

Got 50k on those Radial T/A's & they're still in decent shape. Inflated to manufacturers specs ...

15' Rinkerbuilt with a 2004 Mercedes ML350. No problems anywhere. Tried the 2010 Subaru Outback with the 4-cylinder engine. I was scared for my life.

I have a 2003 Volkswagen Beetle--auto transmission, that pulls my 14' aluminum Valco fishing boat just fine. Total weight of boat/motor/trailer is less than 1000 pounds. But dealer had to install the trailer hitch and electrical (lights) connector.

Pull my 22' Starcraft Cieftain and 17' Crestliner Phantom with 2007 Ford F150 XLT supercrew with 5.4. Throttle body spacer, Edge Evolution, dual exhaust, 4.56 gears and 2" leveling kit with 35" BFG MT's. Don't hardly feel them back there.

I pull my Crestliner Eagle 2166sst with a Land Rover Disccovery. The Boat,trailer,etc weighs nearly 2 tons and in low range will pul it up ramp on tick over,no slipping etc.Not bad for a 2.5 litre diesel. And about 25 miles per gallon

I pull my 2000 Crownline 202 with a 2007 Infiniti QX-56. Tow capacity on the Q is 9000, can't even feel the boat behind. In fact, the Q only went down 1 mpg on average towing the boat on county roads. Just bought both in the past 6 months. With the economy the way it is, used luxury suv's are cheaper than their non luxury counterparts loaded (i.e. Nissan Armada). We saved over $6000 buying a certified Infiniti over the Armada. Loving it! Favorite part is backing up to the trailer, seeing the ball move just under the hitch --like docking the space shuttle :)
