I was just given this old glassmaster boat, it was abandoned by my friends roommate, I was wondering if anybody could help me out with any info or where to find some. I ran the serial # on the mercury, it's a '68

You have a cool/neat looking yard planter until you have documents in hand proving you actually own the boat. That's up to the registering authority...not your buddy.

Unless you really want to jump through hoops I would seriously consider re-gifting it back to your buddy and let him/her sort out ownership. Then, and only then, would I consider taking it back.

Depending on state, it may or may not be an issue. Best to find out. Doesn't matter that your buddy and his roommate know you took possession. Possession is different then ownership.

What info you looking for, probably isn't much if anything about the boat, besides pix of the interior and capacities: people, total weight and max hp rating.

Compare dimensions of yours to those listed here

What you have is a 50+ year old boat and motor not taken care of, not maintained and in poor condition. Likely the wooden stringers and transom are rotted, the flotation is saturated and the engine may be ready for the junk yard. You are probably looking at many multiple thousands of dollars to bring boat and motor up to any kind of operating condition. That free boat will end up being a very very expensive free boat. I personally would return the boat and move on.

I was trying to buy a 65 StarCraft with no title from not the last registered owner. Even for his final offer to sell it to me for $300 I walked away.
.
Call your local Marine Board.
I needed to get certified letters out to any place the last registered owner may live.
From Marine Board:
"You will need to follow the special instructions on the lost boat title application. You will need to send a certified letter to the last known owner. When you send it, it needs to be certified mail, return receipt requested. That guarantees tracking for you to show that you made an attempt to contact them. Also, if there is no hin on the boat, we will need pictures showing that."

I'm sorry, I see now you just wanted to know what it was. Not possible title issues you may have.

It was on the water in 2020 running great, ownership is not an issue, I worded it to sound like maybe I found the boat, but it's just an issue of lost paperwork. I'm from VT anyway, it's not hard to register anything here. Thanks for the chart, I'll measure it and see what I come up with

I'm not entirely sure why everyone is giving him such a hard time...

Appears to be a '68 GMSS 500D, thanks for the help. I took the motor off and brought it to my friends shop, changed fluids and spark plugs and it fired right up, so far, so good
