What difference between 8 versus 10 vane impellers?

Why have 8 or 10?
Same dimensional size either works in the same pump. I just tried a 10 vane instead of 8 and it works fine that I can tell.

Jabsco 920-0001 are 8 vane
Jabsco 17937‐0001 are 10 vane

It is a 5330 pump

you mean between the different profile, OD, shaft size, etc.

Both the 10 and 8 vane impellers are the same H, W, D, shaft size, and driver config (spline). Just one difference, vane number.
M config for the 8 vane
Y config for the 10 vane
I was wanting to know why 8, or why 10 vanes?
I found some ref to vane number in centrifugal impeller pumps, more vanes, more steady flow, less pulsing, but this was not mentioned about rubber impeller pumps.

My guess.........more impeller vanes would increase head pressure while lowering the volume.
