Re: What color can a boat be?

Wanna bet there no restrictions on boat colors? Try painting your boat one of these colors and see if you don't get in trouble...

White with a red diagonal stripe from the bow to the waterline...

White with green accent stripes...

White with a pretty blue stripe...

:D

Back in the '60's I had a white boat and I painted "racing stripes" on both sides. Unlike the CG or HS which have a single band, mine had a wide band with a smaller stripe at both edges. They were blue to match the bootstripe, and were at an angle just like the CG, but closer to the transom. Passed the water cops all the time and never got stopped or even commented on.

Re: What color can a boat be?

Good to hear. Another question, well 2. Does the paint specifically need to be for a boat, or could I use a hd car paint with clear coat?

Also I dont wanna start another thread being new, so when I make my custom windshield is there a height requirement, certain thickness for plexiglass, glass. Can I use plate glass, tempered, or does it have to be safety glass?

Welcome aboard newbie . . . start another thread :p lol :)

I'd ask both questions in the Restoration section and each should have it's own thread. Good luck!!! :D

Back to the original question:

Any color you like is fine, but for the love of Poseidon, don't paint it like this:

There was a Whaler that was decked out like a Water Patrol boat in Party Cove. The emblem on the side said, "Beaver Patrol", though. I guess it was one of those environmentalist's boats.

Go Green! Save the beavers!:D

Oops, I was thinking about solid colors. "Fireman 431" has a very good point! Yes, my brother made that mistake back in the 1970's with his 14' outboard & I ended up with a nice couple of hour 'visit' with the Coast Guard. :D

Red is not a good color for a boat. It oxidizes and fades too easily. Luckily mine has been garage kept since new and I have to keep it waxed farily often to keep the shine. Personally I like boats that aren't primarily white. Yellow would be my 2nd favorite color.

I wonder what the coasties would say about a boat painted, starboard side red and port side green...

I don't know about yellow though, if bananas are bad luck to have on board,,, I'm not painting my boat to look like one :D
