It's funny but when you travel a bit you find that in different areas people play differnt card games. Where I grew up Canasta was the most favored, where I live now it's Hearts and Cribbage. (Cribbage seems to be the biggest when its all men players.)

So whats the biggest or most popular in your area? Or are card games just not played much where you live?

I really miss playing cards with the guys, It used to be eucher, pepper, hearts first then cribbage.
Sure do miss pepper, individually played with a trump no trump call on the hand.

Don't think I've heard of pepper.
Four people, four Eucher hands dealt, each player call what they think they can pull.
IE two spade, three hearts or four and no trump.

I grew up playing Cribbage, Ten Point Pitch, Canasta, and Poker. My wife and I play Cribbage once in a while. Where we live now there isn't too many people who play cards, and I sure do miss playing Pitch.
I have a simple Cribbage game on computer that I picked up in the DOS days. It still works well on windows, and I play it often. I can send it out by email if anyone wants to try it.:)

Played a lot of rummy, canasta and bridge when I was small. Got so even grownups wouldn't play with me because they didn't like being humiliated by a little boy. Still have that problem with Scrabble.

As I got older I found that I wasn't smart (or lucky) enough to dominate a poker game so I played a lot of poker. Still do now and then.

These days Solitaire is pretty big at The Hideout. Keeps me humble. :(

Played a lot of pinochle, canasta, rummy, and hearts. Just turned on to golf ... A lot of fun, a lot of luck, and a good bit of strategy.

I figured there would be at least one other fellow Wisconsinite sheephead player out there..... I'm working on teaching Minnesota how to play it now.

Euchre mostly, some hearts and cribbage. My mother loved to play bridge and tried to teach me but I guess I was too dumb. I'm talking back in the '50s with no internet, no Wii and not all that much television so cards kept us pretty busy.

One year my grandma got us a book of Hoyle for Christmas. My brothers and sisters and I tried just about every card game in that book.

No, I meant is it regional where you are at or more wide spread?

Its wide spread. Around here it does not mater were you go there,s a Cribbage board on the table/shelf. Don't even think of mixing decks with other games. Once a deck of cards has been used for Crib its only used for crib (when you do that the cards will give more points). Its a game here that young and old play with slight variations to the rules.
