What´s the best replacement for AQ271C (or 570) 5.7 GM engine, ideally stroker?

Easiest way to find GM part numbers is go to a website like "GM Parts Direct", or go to place like Summit Racing and find it that way

I´m confused. I think I started a new topic, that is gone now. But instead it is still here. That is odd.

Thanks fpr your hint, but how do I look up a Volvo Penta part number? I assume these are just GM parts in a different box and tripled price.

Summit pointed out these arms COMP Cams 1418-16 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-1418-16/make/chevrolet#overview since those are what MM uses for their GXi replacement.

Regarding the Crankshaft Position Sensor Reluctor Ring this could be it https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ado-10190917. But I those were used in cars until 1996, VP stille used the part number on relatively recent models.

you´re right, not all problems go away by running away. But at least some. ;-)

I´ve started a new topic, since it would be too far off this title. And of course it includes also a rocker arm ratios/lift question. Since VP decided it would be too much stress crank out more power of their 5.7 engine with a proper camshaft, they added roller rocker arms that mimic higher lift.
GM did that for VP and Merc. the 6.2 merc runs 1.6:1 rockers as well. which gets in to seal to keeper interference...... but hey, they warranty it.

What does that mean? yo no comprendo.

Regarding the parts, I didn´t explain that correctly: I know how to look up the Volvo Penta parts. I find them just too expensive and would rather purchase them branded GM in a GM box. For example the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring (Volvo Part no 3862363) or the roller rocker arms (Volvo Part no 3861167).
What is the GM part number for these parts?

Stock vortec heads have a maximum lift of .42 to .45 befor the spring keeper interferes with the seal. The fix is normally to cut the valve stem down and change to better seals.

The 1.6:1 rocker arm pushes the stock valve keeper into the seal

Regarding your question on the reluctor ring......pull the timing cover, the reluctor ring should be there

That is understood. This is the change on the heads you recommended earlier. Now it all makes sense to me. I’ll ask the if they can cut the valve stem down a bit.

No reluctor ring. The block is from the GS what is a carbed engine. I can cut open the hole in the cover for the sensor, but it needs the ring to actually indicate something. D61247E5-55B3-4CB8-B117-578C2D1AB0B0.jpeg

But it says that it was used in the model years 1996 - 2002, while the GXI-E is from 2008. So I´d just prefer confirmation, that VP still used the old style.

because the LS motors were used exclusively automotive after 2003 and now the LT motors are coming in

the SBC hasnt been used automotive wise since. however the industrial motors (generators, trash pumps, fork lifts and boat motors) were used after.

on the LS and the LT the reluctor ring is a 60 minus 2
on the SBC, your motor is effectively a 1996 design

Then the Reluctor ring for the injected Vortec Engines seems to be this one: https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-parts/gm-ring-10190917

ACDelco used the GM part number 10190917.

yep, same one I posted prior. BTW, if you order from From flow GM, it will take a while. your better off on oemcats.com, finding which GM distributors have the parts in stock and call them directly. gmpartsdirect (Flow GM) is slow as hell in filling orders

good advice, thanks!

Is there any chance we figure out, what is the GM part number for the roller rockers that VP used on the GXi?

what´s wrong with GM parts for valve train? Why not getting their 1:6 roller tip rockers?
At $21 a piece x 16 pcs from GM vs $195. Its price.

GM gets theire valve train pieces from melling or mahle depending on part number

i was looking at a $800 Volvo Penta Price Tag, so compared to that 16*$21 is not that shocking. But if we can figure out who made the original parts, that would be great. I’m a fan of original parts and not having to adapt everything else to it.

This is probably so much off topic, that never ever anyone will find this, but I found the shapes of the reluctor rings n the VP manual and this proves Scott was right.
Don't tell him that it will go to his head...
