Whale tails

Does anyone have an opinion on adding whale tails to a 115 hp Johnson? Do they really get you up on plane faster, lower speeds on plane, etc?

Yes they do.

BUT

Are they worth the money?

NOPE!!

For a small group they work beautifully, for another small group they are absolutely dangerous. For the rest they are a compromise, that may or may not be worth having. If, like TD suggests above, you spend a little extra on tabs you will not regret the decision and wish you had just purchased the 'tale.
