Re: Well, It Finally Happened ;-)
Northern Wis and Northern MN are the best. Wife and thought about moving to Rhinelander, but the chance me getting a good job up there was not very good. One of the my friends is from Minocqua. Her Grandfather owned a huge amount fo land there and sold it for a song. Now each parcel with a cabin and lake access is going for $160,000 and up. She still owns a cabin on a small lake that is filled with a ton of bass and bluegill. I wish I was better at catching bass. The lake is so clear you can see 12' into the water like it wasn't even there. It is a great place. She had owned the cabin next door also, but had to sell it to pay the taxes. The cabin had always been in the family. It was her Grandma's place. None of us could afford it at the time. I don't like going into the town of MInocqua anymore unless I have too. It is gettign to be like the dells. Too bad, I remember when the town closed at 5:00 every week day.
You can see a few pictures from up north here.
All but the halloween one is from up there.

Roscoe, I am sorry to hear about your breakup. That bites.

495, when you move up there, you will no longer be a FIB. If you move, you better like the cold and snow depending on how far north. The tourist money is nice, but it is hard when the roads and the towns are packed on the weekends. I live near the Dells now and I can see I-90 come to a crawl on the weekends in summer all the way from the Dells to the Illinois border.
