Actually there is a Coast Guard formula for this (at least I think it is Coast Guard). My old boat (and new one) is not plated. I got pulled over for a safety check in AZ and they used length (ft.) x beam (ft.) divided by 15.<br /><br />Yours would be something like 22 x 8 divided by 15 = 11.7 so I'd go with 11.
