WooooHooo! Now I can get mags for my 9mm!! Now drum mags for the AK will be more affordable! And I can replace my aging AK folder for less than $1200! My little gun collection can continue to grow with firearms that I like to shoot! And most of all, a freedom has been returned to the electorate! Hot dog, this IS freedom loving country!

Not until midnight. Keep your fingers crossed and off the trigger until you've identified your target & what's behind it. ;)
Still can't buy over 20 round mags in Md anyway.

Re: Weapons Ban Expired!!

This is good news for 49 of the 50 states. but..........Here in Calipornia, the gun ban is is still in full effect.

The laws passed here by the leftist politicians, still turn doctors, school teachers, POLICE and everybody else that owns/keeps any of the firearms on the list of baned weapons, into an instant FELON. It doesn't matter if you legally owned and/or registered the firearm(s), prior to the ban here, if you didn't surrender it to the "state." That is a familar word, isn't it comrade?

The main problem here, as elsewhere, is that they don't enforce the legimite laws, which are many, now. It is just that the leftist politicians want to still control out lives.

It is obvious Calipornia has it's own version of the "Second Amendment."

Reason #954 to leave Calipornia.

...Bob in Calif... Bob,

The constitution specifically prohibits laws such as that one. It is in Article one, Section 9, Clause 3 where it is stated: No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed. Someone should challenge that law to have it repealed.

James

jee.......

You are correct as Federal law goes, but Calif. has it's own penal code sections regarding some of the "items" in question, whether it conforms with the "Feds.", it has not been challenged, as far as I know.

I will pass along any info pertaining to Calif. as soon as it becomes available.

...Bob in Calif... Re: Weapons Ban Expired!!

I just heard Kerry ranting at GWB for putting "machine guns" in the hands of terrorists and criminals.

This is the "hunter" and "supporter of the second amendment" who is saying this.

Does he know anything at all about the subjects he switches sides on so often? Or does he just read some liberal poll and agree with what the poll says?

Re: Weapons Ban Expired!!

I've seen at least 10 people on the news tonight saying something like "two police officers were killed with these weapons" and "the killers at columbine used these guns". Whoop de do! What about shotguns? Just because assult weapons are illegal doesn't mean people won't get shot, they will just get shot with different guns. Not to mention people that plan on killing don't really care if the gun is illegal or not...

Re: Weapons Ban Expired!!

BBC news last night had a story on it.

Every film clip showed weapons being fired on full automatic.

Of course, not one of those full automatic weapons is legal today, or yesterday.

I have no idea why these firearms are called "assault weapons"

I heard the media saying yesterday that now terrorists would be coming to the USA to purchase assault weapons. WHY WOULD AL-HABIB COME TO THE USA TO BUY A SEMI-AUTO RIFLE WHEN HE CAN GET A FULL AUTO KALISHNAKOV WHERE HE IS NOW

Re: Weapons Ban Expired!!

Automatic AK-47s fall under another, pre-existing ban on importation of automatic weapons that will never be repealed. I think that one dates back to 1985. There is a class 3 dealer in Crestview Florida, right next door to me, and I have been thinking of getting my class 3 lic. There is nothing more fun than shooting full auto. Not accurate worth a poop, and expensive, but boy is it fun!
What is amazing is how news people report this subject with so much hyperbole, exaggeration, and outright lies, which most folks seem to believe, and no one else with a voice challenges.

Fully automatic arms fall under a ban passed in 1934.

That has not, and probably never will be repealed or expired.

Nothing new here,SW. The Left has to lie, disguise, obfuscate, prevaricate, distort and camoflage their agendas to get their way!

BTW - Fully automatic weapons are legal to own, use, buy & sell in the US, but not all states.
Their are a bunch of applications, background checks & of course fees & red tape with the Feds & states.
I think I read less than 1% of these owners are ever convicted of a crime.

You're probably thinking about the import ban imposed in 1989 by Bush Sr. that included semi-automatic Uzi and AK-47 models.

I hope you will never have to use these guns in self defense or anger.
I have owned a Galil, a kalashnikov,an m16 and an Uzi.All full automatics. It is my experience that the Uzi will empty out a magazine because of malfunction of its hammer system a lot more that the others.Be really careful with that one. They have been known to fire spontaneously. You have to really get into a militairy discipline habit if you own any of these guns. They are not toys. May you never have to use them.
