All 3 of our dogs are rescues.
Willow in '16 at Pismo. Sadly, we just put her down about 3 weeks ago. We gave here a great life for 7 years, tho. She got sick in October, she got better for a while, but her liver was failing. She was about 12 which is avg life for a Siberian.
Then Maggie. She's doing well these days. As best we can tell she is Mcnabb working dog and, maybe pit bull giver her torso is like and oak stump. Solid and muscular.
And then my best buddy, Skeeter. In march of '17 some buddies and I were out camping in the sticks riding our dirt bikes. One afternoon we come riding in to camp and this puppy is hanging around. I figured someone was out woodcutting or something. I gave him a pan of water and he drank the whole thing and half of another. This is the very first pic that I took of him. He still curls his foot like that. LOL
So, the next morning he wasn't around. That afternoon when we came back to camp he was there. I had to leave that evening so I told my buddy that was stating another night, that if he's here in the morning when you leave, bring him to my house. So, here he is the first day at my house. Looking a skinny old man. He's only 8 months approx at that time.
I took him to a vet to have him checked out and checked for a chip. No chip and a clean bill of health. We did what we could to find the owner, but got no response. So here he is 2 months and 11 lbs later. He's such and awesome pooch! I love him to death.
We were camped at a place called mosquito creek, so I named him Skeeter. I discovered a short time later that he had a broken hip. The surgeon said that he's young and he seems to be doing fine with it, so I can put it off. But at some point as he gets older he'll need it fixed. That time came 2 years ago and he had surgery on his hip. He's doing great. He doesn't run as fast as he did before the surgery, but he can jump into a truck now. He wouldn't do that before.
