Waterproof marine sealant for transducer recommendations needed

What is the best waterproof sealant to use below the waterline for the screw holes when adding a transducer to the transom?

I have heard that marine silicone is not recommended. I'm not sure if that is true or if it is okay to use. Any info on this would be helpful.

I appreciate any information the community can provide.

3M 5200 is what I use. This sealant can be found locally at Lowes or HD. You can also buy it online.
