I have a 1986 bayliner 2550 with a aq260b i have been having problems with it since day one.
There was a noise coming from the rear of the boat took it to the marina to have it seviced, they replaced the housing bearing, universal joint and the bellows. i took the boat out for the day after the work was done still not running right. i opend the hatch to see if i can hear exactly were the noise was coming from. i notice water dripping from the bellhousing if the bellows are new is there anything else that it could be????..i took the boat back to the shop for the noise they did a compression test come to find out i have low compression 3 of 8 cylinders so now i am in the prosses of repowering the vessel.During this prosses is there anything else i should look for.. and last is it possable to swap the points distributor to a hei.? what would i have to do.?

thanx danny

Re: water trickling

An improperly installed bellows, or even one being damaged in the process of installation (done it myself) can cause water to get back into the bellows, through the primary shaft bearings in the flywheel housing will allow water into the flywheel housing again. Time to do the job again.

Yes, HEI ignitions can be used. It must be a marine distributor. A common upgrade is to the Delco EST distributor.

Here is an example http://www.michiganmotorz.com/delco-voyager-marine-electronic-distributor-p-119.html

Inspect everything, replace what fails inspection.
