water pump housing leaking into outdrive

Hey guys. I just installed a new water pump housing and impeller on my pre-alpha mercruiser outdrive. I believe i have all the gaskets right and the o-ring placed correctly on the bottom of the pump, but for some reason it is leaking water around the seals where the bottom and top housing connect together, and getting into the outdrive. Its not bad, but i was concerned about it. Any advice on sealing it up good? Anybody know of a link to a schematic of how the water pump goes together? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What year "Pre Alpha" is it?

Its a 1974.

In the picture below, did the water pump base (24) have both oil seals (25, 26) in it?
Another possibility is if the quad ring (5) is not installed. It's a small ring that seals the oil passage between the upper and lower units.

All those parts were there, it's still leaking.
