water pressure

What should the water pressure be on an outboard at idle and at WOT? It is a 79 Chrysler 70hp.

7-14 seems fairly common with volume-type pumps, and higher for pressure-type pumps. I think yours uses a volume pump. Pressure pumps use impellers with shorter stiffer vanes. Volume pump impeller vanes are long and limp in comparison.

I get 3-4 at idle, 8-10 at mid rpm, 14 at full throttle.<br />This is with a new impeller.<br />When pressures start dropping, I change the impeller.
