Water logged hull worth the restore?

I picked up a 18/56 jet jon from my buddy, and it came with a 70's model 16' savage tri hull with a '79 115 inline 6 that he had purchased for the motor. Well there hasn't ever been a trailer jack on it and it sat nose down. The wood under the fiberglass floor is completely rotted. The foam seems to be in ok shape, but the wood stringers on the hull are also saturated. Would it be worth my time to cut the floor out an redo it? I already have 3 other boats not including this one. I know the old tri hulls aren't too desirable, but the actual hull itself is in amazing condition...no scrapes, chips, or anything. Just thinking I don't really want to dive into a project like this, especially if the return isn't gonna be worth my time. One thing about it this little guy would be a tubing machine with the 115! Thoughts?

WOG is correct. It is not an undertaking for the lighthearted. If you love the boat, then go for it. If you want to do it to turn it around, then it's a losing proposition. Might be best to part it out and cut it up.

You can always pull the cap, if it can be pulled easily, and see the stringer layout. Some boats are laid out in a manner where a rebuild isn't that bad. Others, well.... not so easy. Worst case, you take some time and see what it's like inside.

I took a peek in her earlier today. Cut the weak spots in the floor with the sawzall and she's a mess under the glass. Looks like imma have a boat cutting party...ill provide the beer if y'all wanna bring your sawzalls and join ;)

Yeah, I've got a weak spot for neglected boats. Currently I'm rebuilding a bass boat with my son which should have been taken to the dump (the boat, not my son). In TMG's case after a lot of work and $1K to $2K in expense he'd still end up with a tri-hull that beats the crap out of you in any kind of chop. Definitely time for that boat cutting party.

Relax Tin Man! Glasser owners practice euthanasia sometimes too ya know. It's how we ensure survival of the species - by culling the weak and infirm from the herd. And, we're firm believers in organ donation, so sometimes the sawzalls come out just when we're looking for parts. And they cut metal just as easy too. You just remember that!

No need to cut it up; sometimes its easier (and more fun) just to do this:

And for its worth, 2K is on the cheap end..... that's assuming you have all the right tools, and are very frugal.
