If it's still leaking after changing the above seal and gaskets, you will have to remove the LU and replace drive shaft and shifter seals. Hopefully this won't be necessary although it's not that hard to do.
Don't know what you mean by a "b" lower unit.<br />I only see 3 model versions for the 1986 50hp motor.<br />All three show the same lower unit in the diagrams.<br /><br />? ?
The best bet is to take your model number ( and the plug in hand ) and go to a local Mercury dealer. If they don't have them, they will get them within a day or two. That way you won't have to pay shipping either.
