Water In Fuel

Greetings,

I recently wound up with salt water in the fuel of our 115 hp 4 stroke Johnson Evenrude (suzuki in reality). So...

I drained the immediate fuel system the next morning and flushed with clean gas and changed the plugs and low pressure filter before pump. The engine started up after a bit of chugging. Idles great and runs fine up to 3000 rpm. But won't go higher than that. I'm test running on the "muffs" with a hose splitter tht also feeds the engine flush.

Next step would be to test on the ramp as I understand high RPMs using by on-land set up is not wise. Any futher suggestions would be apprediated..

I.E could I have wrecked the pump, injectors, internal separator?

Many thanks,

Paul

Re: Water In Fuel

I wouldn't call a clogged injector wrecked. Especially seeing as if it is clogged , salt dissolves in water.
Maybe try some injector cleaner in the next tank.

Sounds like a good clean out of the entire fuel system is in order. How did the salt water get in there ??

Change high pressure filter, filter case is steel, will rust inside.
Remove vapor seperator clean, check fuel pressure regulator. If the salt still in fuel tank, needs to be removed. Clean rest of fuel system.
