I have a 1995 Johnson venom motor that has warped carbs. They are plastic. apparently they are leaking. I had a boat repairman check it out and told me the carbs are warped. what can I do to repair current carbs and is there a certain different gasket I can use to take care of the problem? Can i resurface the plastic carbs? any suggestion how to check to see which carb is warped?

Do you have paper bowl gaskets?
The new ones are rubber and seal much better.

you have to replace the bowls and gaskets to fix this problem. You cant even get the old plastic ones anymore.

Not sure about this warped carb bowl business. I seriously doubt it. I have heard it happening on the double bowl carbs like on the 150s, but not on the single bowl carbs. Someone set me straight if I am wrong.

Meanwhile....
I have a set of 225 carbs...PM me if interested.

I guess I dont understand how a carb itself can warp? post some pics to give us an idea of what we are looking at.

Re: Warp carbs

I used a straight edge to check the warp. Yes, its warped. The main body slightly bowed. I used sand paper on flat surface evenly sand down to make even or true. haven't put them on yet, but don't foresee any problem

Re: Warp carbs

Overtightening mounting screws will pull them out of shape.
Add heat and they take a set.
