Warning horn problems

I just got a procraft with a Merc RX6 150. The manual says when you turn the key to on the (overheat, oil low) warning horn will signal to verify operation. Mine does not do that. I pulled the horn off and it works fine. Should it be signaling when turned on and how do i check if the rest of the system is operating correctly.

When the horns beeps on start up, it's a self test of the oil module so if it don't beep it's usually the module has failed.
