Warning Alarm has faint sound

Greetings,

On my last trip out coming back to the dock I was hearing a faint, crackling, continuous sound from the warning horn. Taking no chances, I repaced the impeller and thermostat. I took another run the next day and the same thing happened again. That afternoon I turned the ignition to the on position and heard a loud beep (As always) and left the key in the run position. After returning to the boat an hour later I heard the same noise. Initially, I though this was an overheating problem but it seems to be a failure with the horn/warning module. Any ideas?

I would suspect a little electrical leakage between the alarm wiring and ground. The oil alert and overtemp sender come together at some point. That connection would be suspect. The OT sensor would be suspect.

As long as you get a good power on self test beep sequence, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Total failure would cause a false OT alarm is all.

Lay your hand on a cylinder head. If it doesn't stick, it isn't overheating.

If the cheep OT switch isn't working right, it could let you down in the warning department, but it wouldn't cause an overheat.
