I have a 1976 Crestliner Muskie with a 55hp Chrysler outboard motor. I am having a warm start issue. The boat will start just fine cold. I just replaced the choke solenoid and it has a new push to choke key switch as well. I changed plugs and cleaned out the carb. The problem I'm having is when I run the boat for awhile on the water and pull the throttle back into neutral to either dock or sit out on the water, the boat dies. Then I can't start it again until it cools down. It does try to turn over so there is juice in the battery and the starter is good. I can smell gas and the plug is wet when it dies. My thoughts are maybe the float is deteriorating. Someone else asked me if there was a governor and thought that could be it too. The boat doesn't have any problems when cruising across the lake. Any thoughts?
