Walk-thru windshield issue

I have recently bought a 2011 Tahoe Q5i. No real problems except for the walk-thru windshield. There is not a way to keep it secured well when it is open. I boat on the intercoastal areas of North Carolina and the wind catches it and flips it closed. I have looked at getting some clamps to go on the top to clip it to the other windshield when it is open. I know I can bungy it as well, but just wondering what everyone else does.

Re: Walk-thru windshield issue

I took a piece of 2" wide heavy duty velcro and and screwed it to the center frame (with an aluminum backer), then stuck down the mating piece to the fixed frame, works well. To make the tag end look as good as possible, I stitched a piece of the boat's vinyl to the back side. The tag end is about 6-8" long.

I did this after we took a 60MPH cross wind that slammed the windshield shut, from the sound I thought it shattered, but it didn't...

My Larson bowrider has an attached strap on the bottom, inside of the frame with a snap attached that is snapped onto another snap screwed on the port side, infront of the window. A sticker on mine warns the window should be closed and secured while under way. I leave mine open and snapped alll the time with no problems.

Yeah---i would think that the factory would have done something like that for this model. But I can see where they would recommend that it be closed all the time. That would just be a pain though. I will get something rigged up. I just wanted to check before I go drilling into a brand new boat. thanks

Re: Walk-thru windshield issue

I found a clamp (attached pic) used for cameras that would work if I put some cushioning on the contacts. This would just be something I put on when needed and did not have to permanently mount anything. But this is just an example of the type of clamp I was looking without having to put a strap or anything like that.

Thanks for the suggestion fishrdan. I may have to do some "engineering" like you did.

Jayk11.

I know this is a late response but I suddenly remembered your post yesterday while on the boat.

I have a latch mechanism that is factory fitted on my 2007 Q4.
Below are some pics and as the latch is stock you should be able to get this from Tracker.
I hope this helps if you have not already resolved the issue.
