With a WOT bog, is that a symptom of fuel too rich or lean? No backfire or anything just bogs, although I didn't run it very long at WOT with the bog issue. Everything I've been reading it seems that it's a symptom of being too lean, yet all the signs point to me have a rich fuel issue. Black plugs, gas in oil...
Just trying to narrow down my issue here. I have an 1988 130hp 3.0 4cyl w/ a Mercarb
I checked fuel pump and diaphram, looks great. It did have the old rock filter in it, replaced that with a new quicksilver paper filter (aren't rock filters non existing nowdays?) Did not do a pressure test. Fuel pump looks pretty new, most likely was recently replaced. (Note: I have not ran the boat yet since changing the filter to see if it made any difference.)
Even though the carb seems to have been recently rebuilt and pretty clean looking I plan to replace the jets, float, and I'll try the spring loaded needle (I've read that helps with rich conditions)
Just not too sure what's going on here, any thoughts would be appreciated.
