I'm looking to rebuild my vro on my 1986 evinrude 150.I see this kit here that says it's for all vro models.
http://www.maxrules.com/fixomcvro.html
I also have the BRP part numbers 0435921 which is the diaphragm alone, then BRP part number 0436095
here's a pic http://www.crowleymarine.com/parts/2296.cfm.
Looking at the parts it looks like the whole kit in the first link is the diaphragm, and the other kit put together.
I'd like to hit the local stores, if possible to avoid shipping time.
Will the BRP parts work on an 1980s VRO?, the second link to the part number starts at engines made after 1998.

I'm premixing so oil isn't an issue.

0436095 should give what is needed for the fuel side. Watch out for warped housings and malfunctioning valves in the housings.

Re: VRO repair kits, compatibility.

Do I need to get both kits for the rebuild?, according to the max rules kit the fuel side is the only one that is repairable and the diaphragm is in the kit.I'd hate to take it off, open it up, to have to do it again.
I've read about the warped housing, I hope that's not the case, my luck is not the best, but a new vro is around 400 clams.

Re: VRO repair kits, compatibility.

The VRO pump has 3 sections which only 2 may be rebuilt.
Fuel section is normally the one that goes a bit bad after some time with sneaking 'leaks' and loss of pressure. Problem is normally not in the membrane part, but the big brown 'gasket'.
The air-pump only needs rebuild if failed. That means broken membrane or membrane center valve.
When dismantling the pump, watch out for fuel leaks into the air-motor side and check the valves (by blowing) in the air motor housing. If working and no problem, leave it. Do not mix springs between different pumps on the air motor side!! If exhaust smell in the air housing, replace the pulse limiter between crank case and pump, and be sure the engine is not 'sneezing' (crank-case combustion), or the air motor membrane/valve may be damaged.
