I have a 1995 265 albemarle with a volvo DP-S drive. it currently won't shift out of forward gear. I've honked on the throttle pretty good and it wont budge. i've been told that the shift cable probably busted or rusted. the boat had sat for a few months unused, and i'm guessing the cables are original. I realize the boat has to come out of the water to do the replacement as volvo has no exterior linkage. my only question is how to snake the new cable thru the outdrive. the cable seems to go inside of a pretty tight hose about 3 feet in length which is directly attached to the inside portion of the outdrive. once i remove the plate on the outer portion of the drive to access the end of the cable, will i be able to remove it and push another thru that hose without actually removing the hose. i ask this because the nut holding the hose to the outdrive is corroded and in a very very tight spot.
