volvo penta gasket sealing compound

What can I use in place of Volvo Penta or OMC Gasket Sealing Compound?
Will Permatex or Loctite replace this sealant. I have a NAPA and Autozone near by but not a outlet for boating supplies. Thankss

Permatex #2 is a great alternative....

The manual says to coat the outside surface of the gimbal bearing bore with volvo penta gasket sealing compound before attaching the bellow.
