volvo Penta AQ171A with a 290 outdrive

Hello,

Lots of questions..
Can someone tell me if any other motor will bolt up to the 290 outdrive?

Looks like the Volvo Penta may have some issues after the timing belt broke.

Any help would be appreciated.

All kinds of engines hooked to the 290, but only the 4 cylinder engines used the gear ratio in your drive.

Uhhh your engine has a problem, not the Volvo Penta.
Volvo Penta made the engine and the drive and everything else in that engine/drive setup

Pull the head and check things out. That would be cheaper than trying to find a complete engine and drive setup for your boat.
