I am in need of some expert guidance. I winterized my boat this last year and when I started running antifreeze through it the engine started billowing white smoke. I assumed it was a head gasket so I tore it apart a couple days ago to find that my second piston has a chunk missing out of it. This is a 1972 Glasstron V-212 Sierra with a Volvo AQ170A inline 6 engine in it. I also noticed that the cylinder is scared a little bit. First question is it feasible to find new pistons or should I look for salvage parts? Second question, would I be ok honing out the cylinders? I am also concerned about the bearings on the piston rod, but I will have to tackle that one when I get that far. Also, can I do all this while the engine is still in the boat?
