Hey folks,

So I have a 1972 approximate year Volvo B20 engine with AQ100 outdrive. I will be pulling the engine to disassemble and rebuild. I have some general questions how I go about removing this engine. I have purchased a motor mount and will be using a 1500lb hoist to do the lifting, what is the procedure to properly remove the outdrive and then the bracket connecting the engine to the transom for a free and easy removal?

First time performing a boat engine removal but have worked on car motors in the past so the idea is to find the source of water in the oil and rebuild the engine back to factory specs.

Any advice is welcomed.

pull drive first (read the manual)
remove PDS clamp ring. use 3 of the bolts to jack off the PDS clamp ring
disconnect power, harness, fuel, cables, and exhaust
unbolt motor mounts
lift and move forward.

(its all in the factory manual)

So in the comment you mentioned to use 3 bolts to jack off the PDS clamp ring. I am at this stage with removal. Any idea of how to get that PDS off? Not sure what you mean by jacking it off.

So I have figured it out. The 3 bolts which you mentioned screw into threaded bolts which push the bellhousing and I will remove the engine tomorrow.

So let's see how the removal goes. Update to follow.

Put the bolts you removed into the threaded holes.

Located at 10, 2 and 6 in the pic you show
