I was just reading on the search forum about voltage output on Mercury outboards and i think I have a problem but am uncertian on the solution. I have 1988 25 HP Mercury runs great good compression etc. I just replaced the switch box because I lost spark. I was checking the voltage output off the rectifier and at idle I am at +/- 6 volts as the RPM's go up so does the volt output. At near WOT I am at a whopping 30 volts, this seems way out of whack. i don't want to start frying fish finders and other accessories. I get the idea of the battery being the regulator but my accessories are also connceted to the same battery posts. Not sure where to go from here. any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Voltage

usuallly it's the stator getting tired when you see whopping voltages - how old is battery / look up "small" or "tiny" rectifier test .
