Have you seen the pictures of the new USS NEW YORK yet. It was built with world trade center steel. A fitting tribute and I hope she makes us all proud. Now if they could just stop all the BS and get the freedom towers built.

Re: Uss New York

No need for pics - I have been watching it being built for a couple of years. I also watched it leave yesterday morning. I would have taken a few pics myself, but I was taking the tyke to school and couldn't.

The New York passed under the Huey Long Bridge at about 8:30am, after being delayed by fog. Even though it was a work day and the departure was delayed to a point where people had to leave to go to work, a fair number of observers lined the levees of the Mississippi River, bidding the New York farewell and good sailing.

BTW, the WTC steel is a part of the bow stem only, but the tribute is very fitting, just the same.

She's due to be formally commissioned in New York on November the 7th.

THAT would be a sight to see!

My wife has business in NYC in November, I am hoping that it will be during that week. I would love to see that.
In any case, I will at least be watching on TV.

Think of the pride that the Captain and crew must feel to be aboard that ship.

I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to observe the ceremony firsthand. I am certain it will be a very inspiring event.

Liked the bugle presentation! I'll try to upload pics from our intranet after the ceremony.
