Reading the manual in preparation for a waterpump service on my 2003 15hp I have found reference to "Special Lube 101" and "Perfect Seal".

Having had a quick look around suppliers here in the UK these both seem to be hard to obtain.

Do you guys use these two or is there a readily available alternative?

(I was wondering whether 2-4-C grease would be Ok instaed of Special Lube and Permatex #3 intead of perfect seal)

The 2-4-C will work just as good as the 101.
The perfect seal can be replaced by Permatex aviation 3D found at most automotive stores here in the US.

Thanks

Out of interest, how much does Permatex cost in the US?

Matt, The Merc Special Lube 101 is a marine grease that is the consistancy of toothpaste. It is excellent for the stainless steel steering rods. You can substitute any marine grease for the lube 101, but you need to lube it more often.
