Using OMC gas tank with Force motor

Good day Y'Awl,

Owner of a 15hp Force and 9.9 Omc. Since I often alternate I would like to use the Omc gas tank with both engines. The Quicksilver tank has a vent screw on the cap ... the Omc has none. I can purchase an Omc connector to plug the Quicksilver gas line to the Omc tank.

Question is: Will the Force motor operate properly if it's gas line is connected to a non-vented (apparetly) Omc gas tank ?

NB: There seems to be more internal pressure build up in the Omc tank than in the Quicksilver which is why I wonder.

You can do it. The OMC tank is vented via a spring loaded valve. It'll allow a little pressure to build before venting out and a little vaccuum to build before venting in. That helps keep the gas fresher and emits fewer hydrocarbons into the atmosphere. With a vented cap, air exchanges all the time and gas goes stale quicker. It's also somewhat more of a leaking/fire hazard.

I'm using an OMC vented tank too with my Chrysler 55hp 1979. What is the proper tank to use?

WillyBWright,

Actualy it is that little pressure that builds in the Omc tank that I was worried about since my Force OB never had to put up with any pressure from the Quicksilver tank since it has an open vent screw and no pressure built up.

Will then proceed to the modification.

Thank you,
