If you have used a poly tarp on your boat, chances are the top side of the tarp failed due to UV exposure and ripped or flaked apart. But the sides of the tarp don't age as fast because they are not collecting as much UV as the top.
One large tarp that was just replaced was cut up into smaller pieces. The sides, front and back ends (as it covered the boat) were still good. Just a 6'x10' section of the center was bad. The pieces cut off were used to 1) wrap the outboard motor, 2) cover the trailer tires to protect from UV damage, 3) cover the spare 4) cover the tongue jack to keep water out of the mechanism.
Thought it was a shame to toss out an entire tarp when parts were still usable. Just thought I would pass this on.
