Long story short is that I do believe the the Muslim, or any extreemists by the definition are "Soldiers of Fortune" These persons do these activities because it is enjoyable to them. Turns them on.<br /><br />That said, and that those who like that chit and lifestyle, there is no reason for them to "turn off". <br /><br />Consider a thrill seeker in our culture. Boundries do not get in their way. <br /><br />As well, an OBL, et al, provides monies for their adventures, and they are gung ho......

One thing is certain about Islam, though---they follow a doctrine of hate.<br />

That's not "certain" at all...I have 3 Muslim guys working for me. They are the most gentle and peace-loving people around. They follow the teachings of Islam, they don't "follow a doctrine of hate" at all. They are very distressed about how they are always compared to the extremists, however.<br /><br />Read up on the 9 crusades. That was when the "good guys" (Christians) went to war against the "infidels" and went straight to heaven if they died clearing the earth of Jews and Muslims. Sounds familiar?<br /><br />Just saying don't tar everyone with the same brush. The actions of an extreme and vocal few do not necessarily reflect the beliefs of the majority.

Stratocastor, the big difference is the Muslim koran preaches killing the infidels and the Christian bible does not. Mankind will interpret things the way they want to. Look at the white supremacists. Some profess Christianity, but the bible doesn't support their actions. I think maybe the majority of Muslims don't follow the hardcore teachings of the koran, but there will always be hardcore Muslim extremeists who do.<br /><br /> I respectfuly disagree with you PJC. I think it's been documented that most of the extremeists are recruited from extreme poverty, where there is no hope, and death is not anything to dread, which is another good reason for trying to establish democracy in the middle east and hopefully reduce abject poverty, thus reducing the recruitment base.<br /> But having said all that, killing OSB should not be as big an objective as completely eliminating the terrorist organization. There will always be a replacement for OSB, it would be much harder to replace the organization.

Kilian, I will not debate you....these opportunists are doing the deeds for cash for themselves and their families......and 'cause they like the adventure.....nothing better for them to do due to their poverty......the religious deal is a mere excuse to do the deeds these folks do IMO....

I believe the extreme fringes have distorted the teachings of the Koran. I, too, have many Muslim friends who have spoken out against OBL and what is happening to the general opinion world-wide of the Muslim faith. They were the ones that came to me right after 911 and offered sincere apologies and promised to protect me and my family if any extreme elements came close to our house.<br /><br />I also find it disheartening for ones who profess a faith in Christ to turn around and boldly proclaim they want to send people straight to hell. Shouldn't we want to pray for them and seek redemption. Wouldn't that be a better solution to the problem?<br /><br />With that said, I do not disagree with the war in Iraq, I support our troups, and I believe we, as a nation, must do what needs to be done to stop the terrorists. But as a Christian, my job is to pray for them.

The terrorists who flew into the twin towers were NOT recruited from extreme poverty.<br />they came from the middle and upper middle classes, and were university educated, coming from a country like Saudi Arabia that level of living standard is way much higher than what we like to call middle class in the USA.<br />The London subway bombers were NOT from poverty either.
