I would never use pressure treated on my boat, that stuff is nasty, you want exterior or marine plywood made with waterproof glue.

pvc plywood is like a plastic plywood. no rotting. I have a supplier that sells pvc plywood in various thickness. the con of it is that it is more expensive than marine plywood.

Who makes this pvc plywood? Do you have a link to their site?

What kind of boat are you going to put it in, aluminum or fiberglass?

Coosa composite boards are probably what you are talking about and yes it is allot of money. The best bang for the buck is plywood. Without knowing what you are trying to restore or rebuild the question is useless.

Read about the plywoods that other people use. Myself.....I use exterior plywood with one side w.o voids and it will last long enough ......longer that the original wood lasted they way I prepare it and use it. I have used it on my last dozen boats and probably on the next few dozen. The average cared for boat lasts about 20-25 years.

ACX or BCX plywood works good for most applications. If it is properly installed and cared for, it will outlast you. That is including stringers, bulkheads, decks, etc... IMHO, marine grade and other options are overkill and not worth the expense. If you are already doing a restoration, then you have direct control on how water will be kept from getting into any of the new wood.

For pontoon boats, a lot of people use treated but there has to be a way to keep it from coming in contact with the aluminum.

Is the exterior ply or Aruoca ply that people talk about just regular PINE plywood with exterior glue?

It's Radiata pine.. More common exterior grades are made with Douglas fir, which is less susceptible from rot but can be harder to find good clear sheets with minimal voids.. Encapsulated with resin/ mat, the Arauco will be fine

Nope, the most common and cheapest exterior grade plywood is SYP (southern yellow pine) and it is notorious for bending and warping if not stored properly before use and can be unruly to work with.

The fir and spruce and much better grades, but are more expensive.

Interesting. Possibly regional? All the places around me sell douglas Fir exterior. Even CDX is doug fir.. SYP is found in construction sheathing and pressure treated, at least here. Arauco ply is also very hard to find, tho I have found a couple places that can get it

Re: type of plywood for decking

i used marine grade on my tinny coated with 2 coats clarkcraft 1 to 1 epoxy. what i have learned on this sight is you can use a lesser grade plywood but it really sucks up the epoxy as opposed to a marine grade ( 7 ply sanded on both sides with no voids ) i used a lot less epoxy than some others to get 2 good coats on, so think i paid a bit more for the wood but saved time, money and headache on the epoxy.
