I can not find any type c gear lube at any of the local marinas. I know I can get it on line but I would really like to get the boat out this weekend. Are there any safe alternatives?

Thanks

no, find a Johnson Evinrude dealer, they are the only ones who carry it.

Edit: Re Electric shift. See F_R entry next.

When you find it, it will be called Premium Blend Gearcase Oil and will be packaged under the BRP (Bombardier Recreational Products) label for Johnson/Evinrude.

Use the dealer locater to find nearby dealers so that you can find one that has it: http://dealerlocator.evinrude.com/EN/?Rnd=1172157085156

Depends on what motor you have. When Type C was made, it was used in All OMC outboards. Nowadays, Hi-Vis replaces it in most motors with the exception of electric shift models. Electric shifts require Premium Blend.

Husker- If there's a Sportsman's Warehouse near you, they carry Sierra Type C for just over $4 a quart.
