Have you seen the recessed water fall that is the center piece of the Twin Towers memorial? I think it is just plain ugly. This is the best they can come up with? There are two of these large "reflecting water falls" that look more like over sized cess pool concrete boxes without the lids than a memorial to the people who died that day.

Such a disappointment after waiting all this time.

Yeah the dimensions of that inlet sump make it pretty clear that's designed to move serious water. Your photos arent indicative of what it really is.

The falls were tested today. They were running at their normal rate. Not much more water than shows in those photos. Don't have anything newer, just linked them off the news.

Pretty sad.

I don't know Mark I have always found peoples ways of remembering confusing to how I would remember difficult times in my life. I think its your choice how to remember 9/11 thats important. I have a picture of the Trade Center's at dusk as my wall paper so I never forget. as far as rebuilding, I liked the five building approach with the middle building much taller then the other four sort of like a big middle finger! In all seriousness I wished they would just build them again similar to the way they were, how many lives were saved by the incredible strength of those two buildings.

Yes. It does. Why they voted to make two large depressions the memorial is beyond me. (FYI both these holes are in the foot prints of the original towers). Regardless of the water fall aspect of the memorial, it is still just a big, dark grey hole in the ground with what looks like a big sewer drain in the middle. To me it is not fitting to the memory of those lost.

Forget the memorials, what better way to say "fu you didn't win" then to build them right back how they were.

And before someone says I'm being cold to the victims, I did lose friends in those towers.

First time I'm seeing these, but, I agree. Would have made a big difference if they had a large fountain in each depression...

I could'nt open the pics but i have an idea what they look like . that was a sad day as i watched the towers fall from Madison ave. and 45th st. . but i agree w/ Spiat , they should've built the towers exactly as they were . i also remember watching the cranes from Brooklyn as they were about 1/2 way built . somehow , someway , i took it personal and will always feel saddened when i pass by and they're not there . as for the victems and their families , my heart goes out to you , especially to the Costello family , may Chuck ( Local 1 ) forever R.I.P. ,.......
