troubles starting sometimes

up until a few weeks ago my 1969 chrysler 45 hp fired right up every time. now sometimes it takes a while to start and i usually have to give it throttle to start it. any ideas why it wont start sometimes??

Lack of answers= lack of details. Try cleaning your plugs.

i have to turn the key many times for the motor to start now and sometimes i need to give it throttle to start

When was the last time you replaced spark plugs or even clean them? Is it also hard starting even when hot or warm (engine)?

the plugs were replaced last april. the motor runs fine after it has started but would a spark plug cleaning help it start better?

Of course, especially if you do a lot of trolling. In hard start situations, the first thing to check is the plugs.
