hi there,
I have a 2005 Stingray 185LS with a Volvo Penta 3.0 GLP-C (engine SN 3869250). My temp gauge looked like it wasn't reading properly so I figured I would swap the thermostat. I ordered part number 3853799 from the manual. And used the diagram below to locate my thermostat. That is when I noticed the new thermostat does not look much like the thermostat that is inside the housing currently. It looks larger than the one on there currently. Also - I cannot get the current thermostat out. Any ideas? I have never replaced one before so I am a total novice and and likely not doing it correctly. I was looking for the current o-ring to pop off but cant even find it. Can anyone tell me if I've ordered the correct one or how to get the old one out? Any info is much appreciated!!!
