Trim keeps falling when in motion

I have a 1991 Blue Fin with a 3.0L merccruiser engine with a alpha 1 outdrive. When the boat is in motion the trim works both up and down but will fall after trimming up after about 20-25 sec and then needs to be trimmed up again. What would be causing the trim to fall? Also when using the trim their is a funny sound like clicking coming from around the trim pump under the rear seat at times. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks

You have a pressure leak. Whether internal or to environment. When the boat is underway the full force of torque is pushing the drive down, (against boat) and causing it to build pressure and bypass (leak). First determine whats leaking. Ram, (internal or external) hose, or pump/check valves.

I am new to boats and was wondering how to check where the leak is? If their is a leak would the pump be low in fluid? Also if it is low what type of fluid do I fill it with? Thanks
