trim gauge inop

I have a 2000 Drinker captive 232 with a Bravo 3 twin prop out drive. S/n OL413134.

Trim gauge on dash is not working. I noticed on the out drive , on the rt hand side of the drive there is the thing with two wires running into it. Is that the trim sender or is it the trim stop setting? Those wires are not connected. Thanks!

Also what repair/service manual is the correct one for my out drive?

Thank you.

Yes that's it. The trim sending unit is what sends the signal to your trim gauge. Mine went out too, but in order to change it out I have to pull the outdrive. It's kind of a pain. If you decide to go through it, I would change the limit switch as well. It looks the same as the sending unit, but it's on the other side (port side).

On mine there was still a little wire left coming out of the unit so I heat shrunk the ones coming from the unit to the ones coming from the hull and it works for now. If you don't have any wire showing from the unit then you're going to have to buy a new unit. Otherwise temporary fix with the heat shrink

Thanks guys. Ya I was hoping just to heat shrink but no go, not enough wire coming out from the sender. Will have to do it when the drive is off.

Also, as far as outdrive oil goes, that's what the reservoir on the starboard side of the engine is correct? The boat is new to me this year and I just want to make sure fluids are filled correctly.

Last, dang I thought it was manual #29(I think that's the number) I already printed the whole thing!
