trim gage stoped

my tilt an trim gage stoped on me in the water, an i checked in back of it and had power on hot wire ,an on light wire is on ,butnot to ground or brown wire. need help on what to check from there on . EASTES ps the trim does go up an down with the buttons, but the gage does not move, its a 115 everude ,1993 year

The gauge only reads within the 15 degrees of trim range, not the whole tilt range. The sender is variable resistance. Make sure that the ground wire is solidly connected. You can see the connections are generally as shown here: http://www.maxrules.com/graphics/omc_pics/T&Twiring.gif

The sender is at the far right center on the diagram. Ground is G in the relay box.
