I inherited a Chris Craft outboard 19’ came with a 80 ho m, I’m installing a 150 ho and would like to reinforce the transom by adding two knees from the skiing bolts ( inside ) to the streamers . Actually thinking about installing auto hatch supports to act like mini shock absorbers l, anybody ever done or heard about doing this ? Thank you.C8622F09-81DA-4586-8267-C76F8CF165CA.jpeg

If the boat is rated for 150hp, you don't need to do anything as long as it's still solid. If the boat is not rated for 150hp, you really shouldn't put 150hp on it. A 19' may be rated for 150, it depends..

If your doing this because the transom flexes, then the boat needs to be structurally rebuilt. Trying this band aid will rip the transom off the boat in a hurry if that's the case

You want the transom solid. If she flexes at all she will gradually weaken over time. Auto hatch supports ate therefore a bad idea. The top of the transom is where the most strain will occur under power. That is where you need the reinforcement.

A 19 footer often will have a HP rating near 150.
