So I am mounting a 1996 Johnson 150 onto a 22 foot aqua sport dual console., after having pulled it off and rebuild the transom.
It has a stainless steel bracket on top of the transom, which causes a small gap of about an eighth of an inch at the top. I haven’t drilled the holes and mounted the outboard yet.
Should I add a plate or material to the transom to make it flush with the bracket, so there’s no gap? I’m going to resin and caulk the holes regardless. I just wonder if the transom would be more durable if I made the whole area flush with the bracket.
