Apparently Carl Rove will not be facing charges in the outing of a CIA agent in a time of war (which is defined as Treason) according to his lawyer. I guess it's not What you know, but Who!

Phrase it how you like Willy but there are a few very important parameters that must be met to be considered a crime. You can conveniently say what you did but the evidence shows otherwise. The prosecutor had no case. It was evident from the beginning that he had no case but it was in the Democrats best interest to hamstring Rove for a bit. Once again, they've defecated in their own Wheaties. I'm waiting to see how Rove makes them pay- it should be fun to watch.

UFM82

well it shows our system still works.
appearently an independant prosecutor investigated and found no evidence of crimminal act.
thats how the system works.
it may look bad but if the prosecutor says its done Ill abide by it. its how the system works.

A 2 year investigation, tens of thousands of dollars spent. This prosecutor should have wrapped this up a year ago. God help any one of us that "the system" goes after.

Accusation, gossip and speculation are insufficient evidence to prosecute.

The length and cost of the investigation are directly proportional to pressure from the left to make their fantasies come true.

Rodbolt, you are correct. It is how the system works.

Apparently he felt it would be difficult to win a conviction in this case. It is difficult to prove perjury, as you had to be able to prove he did not "forget" --proving what is (or isn't) in someone's mind is a difficult standard to meet in a criminal court.

Still using his position as a means to decieve the American people to further a political agenda is a shameful act, IMO, regardless if the prosecutor can prove criminality or not.

Hmmm, Kenneth Starr. Ring any bells? Maybe someone can refresh my memory as to the cost of this investigation. I know it was a huge amount, and based on what JB said, there must have been enormous pressure being applied by the right in an effort to fulfill their fantasies.

Guilty or not, both sides apply pressure to forward their agendas. It is amazing how short our memories when accusing one side of doing something both do.(not directed at you JB)

You are living in a fantasy. We no longer live in a time where a person needs to be guilty of a crime to go to prison. Someone just needs to become the focus of someone else with the power to send them to prison. We do not prosecute guilty people; we prosecute people we think will lose a trial. The judicial system in the United States is corrupt beyond belief.

Don't recall the cost at the moment, however from CBS NEWS, May, 1998
Nevertheless, the investigation resulted in 14 convictions and two acquittals.
What's Fitzgerald done?

Have to agree to some extent, 18R.

First, our judicial system is more about winning than justice, and second, add the political agendae and it downright stinks.

Nevertheless, the accused is still legally innocent unless convicted.

I can't believe they're not charging that guy just because there isn't any evidence.

Your troll title is misleading. I thought you were talking about a genuine traitor.. You know-- Murtha? Sandy Burgler? Turbin Durbin? Cindy Shi-ann?
But maybee you're right.."It aint what you know, but who" -- Like William Jefferson, Democrat, Louisianna?
I am gloating. Sorry, Willy.

The dreams of all liberals, young and old, kicked to the curb by something as stupid as evidence. It just isn't fair.

Re: Traitor Skates!

The Whitewater investigation cost US $10 million, spanned 6 years, and resulted in no Clinton charges coming from any of those investigations. All they could muster was a tryst. Hardly worthy of removing a sitting president.

Watergate was going nowhere until somebody mentioned something about tapes. Whitewater was going nowhere until Linda Tripp (one of the most reviled women in America) mentioned something about a blue dress. There's a smoking gun out there. It just has to be found. But Rove isn't the big fish anyhow. Cheney may have to testify in the Libbey case. And Novak's book (he's just as guilty) isn't being printed yet. So far the only one's that's gone to jail is the woman that DIDN'T write the story. Go figure and Stay Tuned...
