What is max rpms on a 1995 90hp merc.My tracker pro 18 turns 4800 max,I think thats to low,also I cant trim much for the porpoise,jumps like a bull,It has a 23 pitch 3blade prop.
5500! You may be overpitched. As for porpoising, you have a couple of choices: 1) Reposition the heavy stuff toward the bow, 2) experiment with engine height & trim settings, or 3) at Nauticus Smart Tabs. #3 is the best solution and that alone may bring your rpms up a little.
Marcengillb,

You would be best off by trying to reduce the porpoising by making all possable adjustments to your rig before getting smart tabs. The more you can reduce the porpoising by fine tuning your boat, the better the smart tabs (and therefore your boat) will perform.

Why can't you trim much for the porpoising? I don't know your Merc, but doesn't the motor have a pin you can move to make changes in total trim?
