I've got an old ('78) Dodge 1/2 ton PU with a newly rebuilt 360 engine w/4 bbl carb & auto trans. Any ideas what the towing capacity/limits might be? BTW it's got a transmission oil cooler.
Thanks,
Backlash
Hi, Backlash.

You certainly have enough power to pull a lot, but with drum brakes (power?) a half ton pickup probably isn't safe to tow over 3,000LB..

Check the doorjamb sticker for weight limitations vs. empty weight.

Good luck.
Roger JB,
I don't intend to tow anything more than 3500 max with that rig but it'll give me some peace of mind to know I'm not exceeding the 85% rule.
Thanks again,
Backlash
